| With the advent of shorter and cooler days, more time will be spent indoors: this is the reason for my sharing the following with you. You may get bored one evening and, for lack of a better thing to do, turn to these pages to shake the blues. Like at the cinema, you may choose to walk out any time you get bored here too. |
Summer 2002 I spent three weeks in southwestern France. The first half was spent bicycling with a tour group in the Périgord region. The area often is confused with its river, the Dordogne, because the two belong together like hand and glove. My plan had been to show you the photos I had taken as well as the many postcards I had bought along the way to complement my collection. In my zeal to describe things to you, I realize now that I have spent perhaps too much time doing research after my trip in order to explain and enlighten, not only to you, my public, but to myself, because I got engrossed in the subjects as I delved into them. The topic got away from me and acquired a life of its own. A great deal of my research was done on the Internet when I was back home, and a number of accompanying graphics come from there as well. You may compare me to a stamp or postcard collector: the more items I have, the more I am searching for them. I have built a few web pages previously, and I like to look at them once in a while, just like the antique collector who passes his hand over his favorite pieces and loves the feel. In short, I have constructed these sites mainly for my own pleasure. Thus, you're welcome to pick and choose... | The second part of my stay was spent in the Perpignan region by the Spanish border. No more bicycling now: I would enjoy the company of my friends and visit the surroundings in the luxury of automotive travel. You will soon see the kind of luxury I am talking about. I had been bicycling with them in France in 1993 and had kept up the relationship, by both correspondence and visits. |
Unfortunately, my ISP allows only 5MB of space for its members' web pages. I had to resort to a web site that offer more megabytes, in this case Tripod. Unfortunately again, you will have to put up with annoying ads to spoil your visiting.
